A successful renovation is not simply about replacing finishes—it is about reimagining a space to better reflect the way people live today. For this project at Villa Sabana, Bali Interio transformed an existing classical-style kitchen into a refined, custom kitchen set that balances elegance, functionality, and contemporary Bali living.
Working alongside H+H Architect, the goal was to create a cleaner and more sophisticated environment while preserving the warmth and timeless character expected in a luxury villa setting. The result is a modern minimalist bespoke kitchen island and cabinetry layout that feels spacious, highly functional, and visually harmonious from every angle.
The original kitchen featured a more traditional design language that no longer aligned with the client’s vision for the villa. Through a complete renovation process, the space was redesigned with a modern minimalist approach, emphasizing clean architectural lines, seamless luxury custom kitchen cabinetry, and a carefully curated material palette.
The transformation focused on creating a space that feels both visually lighter and more efficient, while maintaining the premium quality expected in a luxury residential environment. Every design decision was made to enhance usability without compromising the high-end aesthetic.
Material selection played a central role in achieving the desired balance between sophisticated design and tropical durability.
The core cabinetry was engineered using high-quality plywood and HMR (High Moisture Resistance) board finished in a medium grey stain, chosen specifically for its stability and long-term performance in Bali’s humid climate. To introduce warmth and “textural luxury” into the space, Grade A teak veneer with a natural finish was applied throughout key elements, showcasing the beauty of authentic wood grain while maintaining a clean, contemporary appearance.
The combination of warm teak tones and muted grey surfaces results in a timeless aesthetic that feels elegant without becoming overpowering.
At the heart of the kitchen is a stunning natural marble countertop and backsplash, selected specifically to the client’s request. The marble’s distinctive veining introduces organic movement and character, providing a luxurious focal point that elevates the entire custom kitchen set.
Extending across the main preparation area, the marble surface creates a seamless visual flow that reinforces the minimalist concept while adding a sense of refinement and exclusivity. Beyond its visual appeal, the natural stone contributes to the kitchen’s durability, making it perfectly suited for daily use and high-end entertaining.
One of the defining features of this project is the carefully planned lighting architecture. Integrated LED lighting beneath the upper cabinetry enhances both functionality and ambience, illuminating the work surfaces while highlighting the natural textures of the marble and teak veneer.
To provide greater flexibility, a custom dimmer system was installed based on the client’s specific requirements. This allows the lighting intensity to be adjusted throughout the day, creating different moods ranging from bright task lighting for cooking to a softer atmosphere for evening gatherings.
Beyond aesthetics, everyday comfort was a top priority. Premium soft-closing hardware was installed across the entire cabinetry system, ensuring smooth operation, enhanced durability, and a refined user experience.
From production to on-site installation, every component was meticulously crafted and assembled by Bali Interio’s experienced in-house team. Completed within three months, this renovation demonstrates how thoughtful design, premium materials, and expert execution can successfully transform a traditional room into a sophisticated modern culinary space.
